Commercial Lighting Control

DALI-2 systems for offices, retail, aged care and education — designed, commissioned and verified across South East Queensland.

Start Project

Lighting That Reports Back

Commercial lighting stopped being a switching problem some time ago. A modern building needs every luminaire individually addressable, zones that can be redrawn when a tenancy changes, energy data that stands up to a sustainability report, and emergency lighting that tests and documents itself.

We design and commission DALI-2 systems that do all of that on one bus — and we integrate them with KNX, BACnet and existing C-Bus or Dynalite infrastructure rather than insisting a building starts again.

We are automation engineers, not an audio-visual shop. Lighting control, building systems and the logic tying them together is the whole job — which means the specification you get is driven by the building, not by whichever product line carries the best margin.

Compliance

Emergency Lighting That Tests Itself

AS/NZS 2293.2 requires a 90-minute discharge test at intervals not exceeding six months, carried out by a competent person and recorded in a logbook. Done manually across a multi-storey building, that is days of labour twice a year — and a paper trail that is only as good as the person holding the clipboard.

A DALI emergency system schedules those tests, records a pass or fail against every individual luminaire, and produces the report. You still need a competent person in the loop. You no longer need one walking the building with a key.

Platforms

We Work Across All Four

Most commercial buildings in South East Queensland already run something. We extend what is there where that makes sense, and migrate where it genuinely does not.

Zencontrol

Australian-designed DALI-2 and emergency monitoring.

Philips Dynalite

Room and building automation well beyond lighting alone.

KNX Lighting

Open-standard control tying lighting to the wider building.

Clipsal C-Bus

Repair, extension and staged migration of legacy systems.

DALI-2 Certified Systems

Digital addressable control to IEC 62386. DALI-2 certifies control devices and sensors, not just the drivers — so multi-vendor systems actually interoperate.

Individual Luminaire Addressing

Every fitting on a DALI line is separately addressable — up to 64 per line, in 16 groups and 16 scenes. Re-zone a floor in software instead of rewiring it.

Daylight Harvesting

Closed-loop photocell control holds a target lux level, dimming artificial light as daylight rises. Typically the single largest lighting energy saving in a perimeter office.

Occupancy & Absence Detection

Presence sensors on the DALI line drive per-zone switching and dimming, with tuned hold-off times so lights never drop while a space is still in use.

Emergency Lighting Monitoring

Automated function and 90-minute discharge testing to AS/NZS 2293.2, with per-luminaire pass/fail logging — replacing the clipboard walk-around.

Tunable White & Circadian

Colour temperature scheduled across the day — cooler for focus, warmer toward evening. Specified where it earns its place, not as a gimmick.

BMS & Third-Party Integration

Gateways to KNX, BACnet and Modbus so lighting reports to the building management system alongside HVAC, metering and access control.

Energy Reporting (D4i)

D4i luminaires report power draw, burn hours and driver health back over the DALI bus — turning lighting into a data source, not just a load.

Versatile Applications

Where We Deploy

Commercial Office Fit-Out

Open-plan floors, meeting rooms and tenancies that get re-partitioned every few years.

Software Re-Zoning

Move a wall and re-group the affected luminaires in software — no re-cabling, no electrician on site for a layout change.

Perimeter Daylight Zones

Window-adjacent rows dim independently of the core, holding a consistent working plane lux level.

Meeting Room Scenes

Presentation, video-call and cleaning scenes recalled from a wall plate or the room booking system.

After-Hours Control

Time-scheduled sweep-off with local override, so a late worker gets light without the whole floor coming on.

Frequently Asked

Common Questions

How We Deliver

From initial design through to final commissioning — here's how a typical project runs.

1

Design & Specification

Lux modelling, zoning strategy, DALI line planning and control device schedule — coordinated with the electrical and mechanical documentation.

2

Commissioning

Addressing every luminaire, building groups and scenes, tuning sensor thresholds and hold-off times on site.

3

Verification & Compliance

Documented functional testing, emergency lighting verification to AS/NZS 2293, and as-commissioned records.

4

Handover & Support

Operator training, labelled documentation, and ongoing support for re-zoning as the building changes.
